Weaving Stories Since 1921
Weaving stories since 1921, Odabashain produces custom designed hand-made rugs for artists, international galleries, hotels and residences. One of the oldest bespoke rug companies in the Americas, the company is now lead by fourth generation family member Jaime Odabashian from his appointment-only Design District showroom. Jaime has maintained the company’s integrity using only premium materials from personally selected weavers that share the same ethical values and quality demands.
Constantly building its network of creative talent, Odabashian curates projects with world-renowned artist, designers and architects bringing vision to life and unique works of art to cultural institutions and its A-list hospitality clients, including The Setai, Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts, Morgans Hotel Group, Hotel Brisas Nizuc, The St. Regis, Turnberry Ocean Colony, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, Aman, and The Palms Hotel & Spa.
“We use our medium to make a statement about life, art, culture and environment”, explains Jaime Odabashian. “I get really excited about and inspired by our creative collaborations, which keeps our company focused on the highest-quality design. At the same time, I’ve been fortunate to maintain, manage and grow our skilled craftsmen, many of which are generational partners.”
Today, Jaime upholds the same dedication and exacting standards passed on by his grandfather and father, while continuing to propel the company forward with a focus on the luxury hospitality industry, bespoke residential projects and innovative, art-driven initiatives that promote the tradition and artistry of handmade rug making.
“For me, it’s about the slow and well-made approach over fast and cheap,” explains Jaime Odabashian. “I’m here to maintain my family’s rich tradition and values, while preserving technique and history.”
