Kith Miami by Snarkitecture
As customers walk in the 5,000 square-foot Kith Miami retail store in Miami Beach, they encounter bright-lit archways with 528 white Nike Air Jordans V, a signature design detail of the retail brand, and the “V” to symbolizing Kith’s fifth store to open at the time.
The New York-based design studio Snarkitecture is behind the design of the Miami store as well as all the other Kith establishments in the U.S., London and Japan. Known for their world-renowned art installations, Snarkitecture created a space for this high-end men’s and women’s footwear and apparel lifestyle brand that looks more like an art gallery than a retail store.
Curved pathways of custom terrazzo flooring in white with tones of blue compliments the Art-Deco style from the area.
“We normally don’t integrate colors in the Kith stores but for this one, we wanted to bring in a taste of Miami so pops of blue were added to the flooring, walls and counter space,” said Ben Porto, partner at Snarkitecture.
The women’s section has a unique touch with a series of wooden archways the separate the different bays of apparel lines and accessories. The idea was to create marching archways where once customers walk-through they find these hidden nooks with carefully curated merchandise displays.
“The arches in the store define the transition from one alcove to the next,” said Ramon Hernandez, project manager, McKenzie Construction, the Miami-based firm that oversaw the construction and millwork for the space.
The store mannequins are placed in well-lit niches with mirrors and tilted toward the entrance of the store catching one’s eyes. The mirrored-hollow effect throughout the store is part of the shopping experience. The store fixtures including the steel cabinets and wood and stone displays were custom-designed to showcase Kith’s assortment of sport-themed premium products that range from their own label to a curated selection of footwear and apparel that includes brands such as Alexander Wang, Adidas x Stella McCartney, Helmut Lang, Nike, Converse, Puma, Vans, among others.
As with all the Kith Stores, Kith Miami has a Kith Treats bar located at the front of the store serving ice cream and cereal confections. Founded by Ronnie Fieg, the Kith Miami is located on 1931 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach.
